    So is this the same type of injury if I feel a similar type of pain that was caused, not by lifting things above my head, but by push ups? I also don't feel the pain so much when rotating my arm, only when I lower the pained shoulder below the clavicle, then move the shoulder passed my chest. That is my most intense pain.

    My sportsdocter says that I don’t have OP because I don’t have pain at the pubic bone. Still a lot of symptoms sound so familiar. I started with groin pain on 1 side after weeks of walking a lot. Than it moved to both sides, also to the adductors. Doc says it is adductor tendinopathy. Is there a really big difference in treatment? Not sure when I can do it even though it seems I can already but the fear to get a reccurent injury pushes me away.

    Why is ice still recommended when the inventor of the rice acronym retracted his statement in 2013 because 'ice does not help with healing' which is obvious. It dramatically decreases blood flow. Other than that, thank you for your help

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio 2 дні тому

      Because, like with most medical things, it all depends on the context. I agree that routine icing for days on end is not useful, but in some cases it is important to limit the internal bleeding and swelling immediately after the injury because if that is excessive it cuts off the circulation and you end up with a secondary injury. I discuss it in detail here: www.sports-injury-physio.com/post/using-ice-for-sports-injuries

    I am a 56 yr old female - a bit overweight. Prior to my injury I used to walk between 7 & 12km per day atleast 3 x per week. Once I noticed the pain and swelling on my knee I could not walk further than going to the bathroom and back. ( I still cannot fully pinpoint when what happened to cause this injury.) I started using crutches only using the injured knee's toe area for support. I need to start walking again but was afraid I will cause more severe injury. After watching your video explaining the injury, recovery and treatment I feel hopeful again. We were planning a charity walk-a-thon of app. 300km in two months time but now I will just have to postpone it for a little while. Thanx

      You need to get someone to check your movement when you use the weights to see if you are doing a funny move with your legs or not - if your leg is turning out etc. then you may want to see if you can control it better. Also you need to check if your heel raise is causing your leg to turn out too much.

    My CT scan if the foot showed a "chip fracture on the superior anterior part of the medial cuneiform" which is on top of the foot below the big toe. I cannot seem to get my doc to explain whether it includes a torn tendon or ligament. If the report does not mention any torn ligament or tendon, does that mean it is only the bone that chip fractured on its own?

      Not sure - sometimes the report will make a sweeping statement that no other injuries are noted.
